Do you ever have one of those weekends where, when you have a second to breath, you take a step back and realize, it’s all worth it? I had one of those moments this weekend, right now actually. I have come off of some pretty busy weeks and have finally had some time to look back and reflect and it all just made me smile and made sense!
I always thought this wedding/event planning industry was cut throat, every man for himself, super competitive. And, sometimes it may be, there may be those people who bash you, not like the way you conduct your business, hate on your creations, but those people are few and far between. Over the past 6 months I have come to see what an amazing community this industry has! People who truly love creating and love what they do, just want everyone to succeed and I could not be happier to be a part of it.
When I first started talking about this whole wedding/event planning thing, I had a dear friend of mine connect me with someone who has been my go to with questions, freak out moments, encouragement, words of advice, etc. She’s a super busy florist, farmer, lavender grower, boss lady, but she always made time for me, and still does. I don’t quite think she knows how much that means to me. She has encouraged me to put myself out there and network, but the one thing that has always stood out to me is how she embraces every aspect of creativity, and how she truly feels and believes that there is room for everyone in this community, we have to help each other, lean on each other and grow together! There’s a reason Stems and Sprigs is so successful and I’m honored to know her (even if we have never met in person), bounce ideas off of her, and be able to call her, freaking out, with what I think is the worst thing EVER! She’s someone to look up to and I hope I can collaborate with one day!
Along with Kalin at Stems and Sprigs, I had the opportunity to meet Bri and Adam with The People Picture Company through my December Bride. (crazy, small world, but when Adam went to introduce himself at the church, I realized I already knew him, we went to college together, but even more strange and as the night went on, realized, we also went to high school together). Bri and Adam were both so amazing to work with, easy to talk to, and just fun to be around. To say that I was elated that Bri reached out to me after that wedding to meet for lunch would be an understatement. I was so touched by the words she said and was excited that our schedules allowed for a lunch meeting last Friday. The amount of knowledge these two have in the industry is incredible! I literally sat at lunch pinching myself to make sure I was really sitting with two seasoned photographers in the industry who were giving me praise for how easy I made their job, and the positive vibe I gave out, it was a surreal moment, my dreams are coming true. They talked with me about business plans, follow up meetings, suggestions on how I can market Adeline Rose Events, I mean I could keep going here folks. The feeling you get from other people (strangers really) wanting you to succeed is, I don’t know, I can’t really find the words. I could have sat there the rest of day, night, weekend just picking their brain and listening. They offered to look over my business plan, recommend me to brides, and help mentor me as my baby grows! I honestly can’t wait to meet with them again, and hopefully work with them in the near future!
I was literally on a high after lunch, my head was spinning with all the things I wanted to get onto paper, and the positive vibes flowed into a great set up at The Cheney Place for Sarah & Shane’s wedding, and rehearsal dinner, which I can’t wait to share with you soon! (waiting on my December bride and groom to get back from their honeymoon and get the awesome pictures from The People Picture Company before I blog about it, and then will share Sarah & Shane’s big day). This was an incredible weekend that got me even more excited about starting this company (I didn’t know that could happen). It made me excited about putting myself out there even more, putting pen to paper (or in my case hands to keyboard) and get all my ideas and goals out there and start checking them off. I’m looking forward to my first Tuesdays Together with the Rising Tide Society in February, meeting new people in the industry and continuing to make some great connections!
My village is growing and this baby is getting bigger and I just never imagined it would bring me this much joy! AHHHHHHHHH, can you feel the excitement in this blog? I mean I could sit here and write all day, but I’ll spare you!
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
