The day is finally here, I can finally share Sarah & Shane’s Grand Rapids wedding! I’ve known Sarah for about 10 years, and when she saw pictures from my cousin’s wedding in 2015, she said “when I get married, I’m totally hiring you.” So needless to say I was honored when the time finally came and I was able to design with Sarah to make their wedding day come to life.
Sarah is one of those laid back girls, who really wasn’t sure how she wanted her day, but knew that her Shane wanted it to reflect them as a couple, and wanted everyone to have great time! The personal touches on this day were so precious and no detail was left undone. There was a lot of DIY prep for the day, and it paid off. So, it is with great pleasure that I share Sarah and Shane’s January 14th wedding held at The Cheney Place in Grand Rapids, it was the perfect blank canvas with a very cool vintage industrial feel.
Sarah and Shane couldn’t have picked a more suitable venue with The Cheney Place, super laid back just like them, but with a little bit of spunk! The space allows for a ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all on site, which is so awesome! The ceremony space was very intimate and I loved all the little touches of the season, the pine cones hanging from the seats, the lanterns, candles, and vintage doors, added some character to this restored warehouse. The cocktail hour on the second floor had these really cool, funky vignettes set up, a mix of mid-century and antique furniture that made for the perfect sitting areas and even better photo ops! The Cheney Place allows you to pretty much configure the reception space to fit with the number of guests you have and the feel that you want, which is so nice. We were able to keep the reception intimate, but not tight, and the outcome was amazing! The farmhouse head table, adorned with flowers by Andy Lous FLowers, more seating areas with vintage chandeliers, and of course the awesome dance floor (tunes by Moments in Time Disc Jockeys) with disco balls! Jacqueline Marie Photography captured this space and this whole day and didn't leave a minute of it out!
